The trade union working group
Friends of the Earth has initiated a working relationship with the Victorian Trades Hall Council over the issue of climate change. The intention of the working group is to find areas of commonality between the environmental movement and unions and avoid conflicts that have existed in the past. One obvious source of common interest is policies that will be effective in stimulating green job growth in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors.
As at late 2008, the trade union climate change working group has been meeting for several months now with the participation of members of the climate justice collective and we’re excited about the possibilities of this collaboration.
