Volunteer
The Barmah-Millewa Collective is a small group of active volunteers.
We would love you to think about joining us!
We also employ a campaign coordinator, a fundraiser and 2 community
campaigners who are available through the week for further information
about how you can contribute to this camapign.
As well as ongoing campaigning roles, you may rather choose only
to be involved in one of the discreet tasks listed below.
Please contact the campaign coordinator Jono if you are interested
helping on (03) 9419 8700 or jonathan.lanauze[a]foe.org.au
.
*Distribution
of brochures, posters and other info
We regularly do mailouts to our supporters
and need assistance in stuffing envelopes! This job comes acompanied
with a meal and a campaign update by one of the campaigners.
We distribute posters, brochures and stickers
to workplaces, cafes and other suitable places.
Estimated time: 1 evening/weekend session
(3-4 hours), but whatever you can do to help - we've got lots of
stuff to get out there to get people to know about the campaign.
NEXT MAILOUT: WEDNESDAY 5th
SEPTEMBER 2007, 6pm at Friends of the Earth.
ph 03 9419 8700 or barmah[a]foe.org.au
*Stalls
We are holding information stalls on weekends and some weekday
festivals. If you can help out setting up and tlaking up the campaign
to folks then give us a call.
*Media monitoring
Compile a folio of 2007 media clippings covering the Barmah-Millewa
Campaign, to be used in promoting our work to potential funders.
We try to keep a copy of all media clippings for our records and
for our funding bodies. We have a list of the regional newspapers
we are regularly featured in.
* Estimated 2 hours work/fortnight at the State Library
of Victoria (Melbourne CBD) copying and compiling the articles.
*Forest Logging Monitoring
The collective regularly organises to visit various logging coupes
in the Red Gum areas along the Murray. We check out the coupes for
braches to the Forestry Logging code and record them for reporting
purposes. This job contributes to our campaign to stop logging in
red gum forests.
Generally we travel up to Barmah or Gunbower forests to undertake
logging monitoring, however if there are people interested in other
areas this is also possible.
Estimated time: travel: 3 hours, overnight (at least) field
trip
