Green Pledge Volunteer Positions


Schools Team

As a member of the Schools Team with the Green Pledge, you’ll be joining an exciting project that is growing every year. You’ll help empower young people to take environmental action themselves whilst also raising money for Friends of the Earth’s office space.

The Schools Team is responsible for:

  • Collaborating with their Coordinator to

    • Build and maintains relationships with schools.

    • Engaging schools and students in taking The Green Pledge.

    • Visiting schools to educate students about the importance of environmental sustainability

    • Follow up with schools to ensure meaningful action is taken.

Skills and Competencies

Members of The Schools Team are:

  • Committed to environmental and social justice

  • Comfortable with leading educational workshops for young people
  • Available during some (not all) weekdays to run workshops during school hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills

It would be fantastic if you have:

  • Experience or contacts in the schools system

Time Commitment

Hours: 8-16 hours per week, dependent on the stage of the project. It is essential that Schools Team members are available on some weekdays to travel to schools and give workshops during school hours.

Duration: Until Late-September 2015 - Particular focus on July and August.

Outreach Team

 

As a member of the Outreach Team for the Green Pledge, you’ll be joining an innovative project that is growing every year. You’ll help empower people to take environmental action themselves whilst also raising money for Friends of the Earth.

 

Time Commitment

 

Hours: 8-16 hours per week, dependent on the stage of the project. You’ll attend team meetings. Working times are flexible. Ideally working from the Friends of the Earth Office at 312 Smith St, Collingwood, Melbourne.

 

Duration: Until Late September 2015

 

Reports to: Ewan McDonald, Green Pledge Outreach Coordinator

 

PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Outreach Team is responsible for:

  • In collaboration with their Coordinator

 

    • Recruits, supports and manages 50-100 Green Pledge Team Leaders

    • Develops and implements a series of skills workshops for Team Leaders

    • Recruits and supports participants through organising and running stalls and call out session

Partnerships Team

As a member of the Partnerships Team for the Green Pledge, you’ll be joining an exciting project that is growing every year. You’ll help empower people to take environmental action themselves whilst also raising money for Friends of the Earth.

The Partnership Team is responsible for:

  • Collaborating with their Coordinator to
    • Establish new partnerships from a range of different institutions and groups, including colleges, workplaces, interest groups, councils and other environment groups
    • Supports and facilitates the Green Pledge experience for any new partner 

Skills and Competencies

The Partnerships Team:

  • Is committed to environmental and social justice
  • Has Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Has Excellent planning and organisation skills

It would be fantastic if you have:

  • Cold calling and/or pitching experience
